Farwest COVID-19 Announcement for Oregon and Washington
March 26, 2020
Valued Farwest Steel Oregon and Washington Customers,
As you know, due to the COVID-19 situation, Oregon Governor Brown and Washington Governor Inslee issued executive orders on March 23, 2020, for all individuals to stay home or at their place of residence except as needed to maintain continuity of essential operations. The executive order for Oregon went into effect immediately and identifies manufacturers and the construction industry as essential. The executive order for Washington went into effect on March 25, 2020. Washington lists 13 critical infrastructure sectors including healthcare/public health, emergency services, food and agriculture, energy, water and wastewater, transportation and logistics, communications and information technology, community-based government operations, critical manufacturing, hazardous materials, financial services, chemical, and defense industrial base.
Farwest Steel takes the Governors’ executive orders seriously and will reduce our Oregon and Washington operations to sustain supply only to customers permitted to operate as essential in their respective states. All non-essential Farwest employees will be sent home to observe the shelter in place requirements. Reduced Farwest Steel operations will continue to abide by CDC and state recommended protocols designed to minimize the transmission of COVID-19.
If you are an Oregon company permitted to operate in manufacturing or construction or are a Washington company permitted to operate in one of the 13 critical infrastructure sectors during the COVID-19 shelter in place mandate, then Farwest Steel will support your metals supply requests. If you are a company that is not permitted to operate in your respective state during the shelter in place mandate, then Farwest Steel will not be able to process your order until the mandate is lifted. Farwest Steel will be asking each customer requesting supply if they are permitted to
operate during the shelter in place mandate and we will supply the consolidated customer list to government officials if requested.
